Electric Fireplaces Are Replacing Traditional Wood Burning Fireplaces
What Are Electric Fireplaces
To be precise, an electric fireplace is mainly made to mimic a real wood burning fireplace that can heat up a room by just plugging it in and turning it on, without requiring logs to burn and clean-up of ash and residue and no fire or harmful smoke inhalation to worry about, or expensive gas to purchase and burn up.
Some of these fireplaces are made so realistic that you would think what you are seeing and hearing are real flames and crackling burning logs.
How Does Electric Fireplaces Work?
For the most part, electric fireplaces are very simply made. A variety of techniques and materials are used to create the realistic flame effects and LED lights along with mirrors can create every other effect from glowing embers to flames.
Basically, there are two ways to create an electric fireplace one way is to use heating coils in front of a fan to make hot air blow out. Another way is to use infrared quartz where heat is delivered invisibly by warming whatever it touches through infrared light.
The Different Types of Electric Fireplaces
Although these electric fireplaces were not too big in the past, they have recently grown and are replacing the old traditional firewood burning fireplaces. Unlike the old fireplaces, there are a variety of electric fireplaces to choose from, the following are just some of the many types available…
• Mantel: This is a unit that comes built right into a mantle that can actually fool people into believing they are a real traditional fireplace.
• Wall Mount: These units are usually flat and mounted on the wall like a big picture to add some style to any room
• Entertainment Center: This model is made to look like an entertainment center with a fireplace centered at the bottom
There are many more variations and styles of electric fireplaces which also range widely in price.
